CHARACTER NAME: Sam Wilson
AGE: 40 (would be 45, but was kind of dead for 5 years)
CANON: MCU
CANON POINT: Post 1x06: "One World, One People", so after claiming the mantle of Captain America and coming into his own within the role as the self described "guy whose only power is believing we can do better", holding himself and those around him accountable for the responsibility to leave the world a better place than it was before, and saving many lives along the way - though tragically, not all he set out of save.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY:
Early History
Sam grows up in the small fishing town Delacroix, Louisiana, working on his family's fishing boat and seafood business alongside his sister. He joins the Air Force as a pararescueman, serving two combat tours in Afghanistan, becoming a test pilot for the EXO Falcon project, successfully flying in infamous and highly classified missions alongside his wingman, Riley. During a night mission, Riley is hit by an RPG. Sam is unable to save him, which profoundly shakes his life, leaving him unable to find a reason to continue fighting. He leaves the Air Force. Instead of returning to his family, Sam refocuses his life around further helping others by becoming a counsellor for veterans with PTSD in Washington, DC.

The Falcon
In 2014, Sam encounters Steve Rogers, eventually joining him after HYDRA takes over SHIELD, realizing the stakes of what they're up against and the threat to the world at large this poses, reclaiming the EXO-7 FALCON suit. Once committed back to the fight, Sam is there to stay even after the threat is handled, agreeing to search for Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, once he's broken out of his brainwashing and goes into hiding.
This secret mission alongside his recruitment into the Avengers in 2015 and subsequent missions with them, keeps him busy until 2016, when the government introduces the Sokovia Accords, a document meant to control the Avengers under government oversight. Sam is the first to vocally oppose this, not trusting the idea that any government should be allowed to dictate where and how they act, as it would subject them to other people's agendas. When Bucky is framed for a bombing and his Winter Soldier programming temporarily reactivated, Sam fights to defend him, violating the Accords and becoming an enemy of the government. He's temporarily imprisoned, but broken out by Steve and Natasha, going into hiding as a wanted fugitive with them for the next two years.
When Thanos attacks Earth in 2018, they join the fight to defend Earth. As a result of Thanos using the Infinity Stones, half of all life in the universe is eradicated, including Sam. He's returned to life 5 years later. Steve passes the shield and title of Captain America to Sam.

Captain America
In the following 6 months, Sam does contract work for the Air Force as the Falcon, initially rejecting the shield and giving it to a museum to be laid to rest. When new super-soldiers arrive and the shield is given to another white man, Sam has to walk a tightrope between a country's legacy of failing black people, his own need to do the right thing, and what kind of fight he needs to be fighting, culminating in him reclaiming the shield and choosing to become a different kind of symbol with it - a black man with no super powers other than the belief that we can all do better.

PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: ---
PERSONALITY:
Compassion, Empathy, Helping Others:
Core traits of Sam's personality are perhaps best summed up in the pararescuemen motto: "These Things We Do, That Others May Live". Sam is a man dedicated to helping others and doing what he believes to be right. Sam is ready to extend a helping hand, empathy and understanding - sometimes even to those who oppose him and seek to do him harm, willing to hear others out and stick up for the little people, the disenfranchised, the ones left behind by the world. He's ready and willing to put himself in harm's way for the right people - this can included opponents.

Reckless Self-Sacrifice:
We see Sam save Bucky from an accident that Bucky, being a super-soldier, could likely have walked off despite being lethal to a regular human. The maneuver puts Sam himself at great risk of physical harm, but it shows that he sees others as people first, their abilities and use second. He will take a bullet even for someone who could walk a bullet off, and would sacrifice himself to do the right thing without hesitation.

Unwavering Moral Code, Wary of Authority:
If he sees something done that he considers wrong, he will speak up about it, make his stance known and act if he is able to act. This refusal to stand idly by in the face of injustice or people in need can lead to Sam putting himself in harm's way and put him in conflict with authority figures, whom he does not blindly follow. This wariness of authority figures can of course easily become detrimental to Sam himself. If in doubt, he refuses to take the easy way out, and maintains a solid balance of conviction that never tips too far into cynicism or optimism. While he can be swayed, he will ultimately stay true to himself.

Unflinchingly Loyal, Stubborn:
His loyalty isn't the easiest to gain, but it's incredibly hard to lose. Sam doesn't give up on people easily, and can be incredibly stubborn in his convictions.

Level-Headed with a Sense of Humour:
Sam is able to remain level-headed and firm without portraying the full extent of the anger or hurt he might feel, often willing to diffuse a situation with humorous remarks, teasing and bantering for other's sake over raising his own voice. True anger leads to him shutting others out more than it does to him raising his voice.

Open but not Opening Up:
While being open towards others, Sam rarely if ever opens up about his own feelings, trauma and needs. Even close friends are left in the dark about much of his inner life. Patient with others far beyond what many would put up with if he considers a person worth it, Sam can and will be hurt by others, letting them close but ever kept at arm's length without getting pushed away - and often without noticing that's what he's doing.

SUITABILITY: I believe that Sam's unique skill set both from his pararescue background as well as his work with the Avengers, his willingness to help others, stand up in moments of conflict, and give back to a community will make him an interesting, positive fit for this game. Someone who will have a vested interested in striking out on rescue missions and explorations, protecting others and lifting spirits while struggling with his own very human limitations and streaks of imposter syndrome caused by situations beyond him also strikes me as an exciting mixture to play in a survival based setting like this.

ABILITIES/SKILLS: While possessing no superpowers or supernatural abilities, Sam Wilson has a broad skillset:
- Pararescue: Sam has received the nearly two year gruelling Air Force PJ Training, also known as "Superman School" that includes training from multiple military branches and is designed to cover a wide range of special ops and rescue skills. Pararescuemen are combat medics that are dispatched into the field to rescue injured soldiers in a wide variets of situations. The training includes the following courses according to the US Air Force: Basic Military Trainig, Special warfare Preparatory, Assessment and Selection Course, Special Warfare Pre-Dive and Combat Dive Course, Airborne School (Parachuting), Military Free-Fall Course, SERE Training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape), various Paramedic/EMT courses
- Paramedic/Combat Medic: As part of his pararescue training, Sam is able to provide on-site emergency medical care.
- Flight/Pilot: Outside of his parachute/skydiving training, Sam is shown competently handling aircraft familiar to him. Most of his flight prowess is depicted with the EXO-7 FALCON wingsuit and follow-up models, however, a combination wingsuit and thruster pack that keeps its pilot airborn. Sam is extremely fast and agile with this. Canonically, the EXO-7 was still a prototype, with only Sam Wilson and his wingman Riley piloting the suits, implying they'd been testing the FALCON suits mark 1 through 6 as well. later, Stark Industries would improve on the prototype design, and at his current canon point, Sam as Captain America has instead received a new take on the suit as designed by Wakandan technicians.
- Martial Arts/Acrobatics: As part of his unique training and later combat outings as the Falcon and becoming Captain America, Sam has developed a unique fighting style. Trained in aerial and unarmed combat, his style includes a combination of firearm improvisation, flight maneuvers and modern army combat styles that are influenced by elements from Muay Thai, American Boxing and Taekwondo, relying on fast and acrobatic maneuvers over brute strength, often employing kicks boosted by momentum and his thrusters over punches. Additionally, in order to handle the shifting equilibrium of his fast flight speeds, Sam trains hard to be nimble and acrobatic. In addition to regular runs, we see his training including flips to keep his body in constant, fast motion.
- Marksman: While mostly seen using the retractable sidearms of his former Falcon suit, Sam has been shown using a variety of firearms with skill and accuracy, as befits his military training. Additionally, he's trained to use the vibranium shield offensively as well as defensively, throwing it with great skill and accuracy.
- Engineering: Sam performs maintenance and calibrations both on his wingsuit as well as his drone in between missions, not trusting specialised professionals over his own skills. He's also seen doing repairs on his family's boat.
- Languages: Sam speaks English and Arabic
- Fishing/Cooking: Sam has spent his childhood and youth working on a fishing boat and for his parents' seafood business. He has reasonable skill at fishing and handling fishing related tools, can be seen fixing nets, is comfortable on boats, and has a good grasp of cooking especially surrounding seafood.
INVENTORY:
1. Captain America Wingsuit: the suit includes a jetpack with retractable, flexible vibranium wings, and combat goggles that enhance the wearer's vision, allowing to zoom in and track objects beyond human eyesight ability, tracking heat signatures and foot prints. I'm happy to let this take two inventory slots if necessary
2. Captain America's Shield: A vibranium shield impervious to most damage from regular human weaponry, can be thrown and bounced off solid objects, becoming a versatile hand-held offensive and defensive tool
3. Primary Drone, Redwing: recon and combat drone, includes extensive scanners, projectile grappling handcuff line, twin machine guns (require ammunition potentially via AC Rewards? otherwise they'll just run out at some point), a high powered laser that with time can cut through metal within reason
4. Secondary Drone: smaller than Redwing, lacking extra features, mostly used to generate extra thrust or provide distractions. Note: The Wiki lists the suit as having two Redwing drones, but this is not the case. The secondary drone is smaller, and only ever seen once when helping Sam deadlift a truck. It's unclear whether the secondary drone is separate, or a detachable part of Redwing, therefore I'm listing it as a separate item

Samples;

SAMPLE ONE: Communication by way of banter with Bucky
SAMPLE TWO: Thoughts on their situation and mismatched canon points with Bucky
SAMPLE THREE: Conflicting thoughts/feelings with Steve - In this scene, Sam has to adapt from an external conflict in the shape of their rescue mission and how he operates and functions in the progress, to a more internal conflict, both about the difference in canon point between himself and Steve, as well as what he should reveal about the losses suffered in the interim. All of that is encased in Sam having taken up the mantle of Captain America, that this version of Steve has never actually passed along, which is making Sam question a choice he only just comfortably arrived at in canon after months of doubt. The inner conflict buckles a little further under the weight of his issues with Bucky's mismatched canon point, which entrenches Sam in a complex dynamic of friends/partners gained and lost, and feeling unable to truly share that weight and burden with them, choosing - for now - to internalize them.
